Heart Broken

Brian climbed off the couch with the sound of someone banging at his front door.
‘I wonder who it can be,’ He thought unlatching the chain lock and turning the dead bolt.
Opening the door, Brian saw his best friend standing there. “Nick what are you doing here?”
“She did it,” Nick said in a sobbing voice, stepping into Brian’s door step.
“Did what?” Brian asked pulling Nick inside and out of the storm that seemed to have gotten worse.
Nick stood in the doorway of Brian’s house shaking. His eyes stayed forward for some time, just staring at the floor. Finally he moved them and glanced at his best friend.
Nick’s eyes were cloudy and Brian shivered at the look Nick gave him.
“She broke my heart Bri,” Nick whispered with a sniffle.
Brian knew all about Samantha. That girl had been bad news since day one and Nick was to naïve to see it. He had fallen in love with her the moment she walked onto the set of the video shoot. She was to play the lead in their new video and Nick followed her around like a lost puppy.
He tried to warn him. Brian went out of his way to make Nick open his eyes and see what was happening but Nick got on the defensive side; mentioning something about Brian being on a short leash and to go back to his *woman*.
“She packet most of my stuff and left it on the door step for me when I got home. She wouldn’t even come to the door so I could talk to her, make her see exactly what she was doing,” Nick said in a lost voice, his head shaking from side to side as he spoke.
Brian pulled him further inside the house, having him sit down on the couch. Sitting right beside him, Brian removed Nick’s wet trench coat as he listened to his best friend cry over his heart ache. Nick’s t-shirt being removed soon after.
“I just wanted to know why Brian,” Nick said turning his head to look at the brown haired man sitting next to him. “I didn’t even know we were fighting. She told me to go to the store and then over to pick up Mikey from the vet. I come home, my stuff is on the porch and the locks are changed.”
Nick sat back on the couch and let his head fall against the back. He let out a sigh and closed his eyes.
“I can’t even get into my very own house.”
Brian shook his head. He wanted to say something about Nick’s judgment on this girl but he knew that if he insulted Nick in any way his mood would go from bad to worse.
“What are you going to do?” Brian asked softly after several moments of silence.
“Die,” Nick said seriously.
Brian’s eyes widened. He couldn’t believe what Nick had just said. “You’re what?!”
“I love her so much Brian…” Nick sighed as his eyes closed. “And it hurts so much to see she doesn’t love me back anymore.”
“Do you think she ever did love you?” Brian questioned, his arms tight around Nick’s body.
Nick shrugged his shoulders and looked at his friend, their faces inches apart. “She said she did.”
“I never believed a word that came out of her mouth,” Brian stated. He rubbed his cheek on the top of Nick’s head, staring straight ahead as he thought.
“Why don’t you like her?”
Brian looked down at Nick, his hand stroking the young man’s face. “Because she always hurt you,” He whispered. His eyes caught with Nick’s and they just stared at each other.
“She didn’t mean to,” Nick insisted. “She never does.”
“Nick she just kicked you out of your own house,” Brian pointed out. He let out a heavy sigh and closed his eyes.
Nick didn’t say a word. Snuggling against Brian’s body more, Nick secretly wished that there was a person like Brian in girl form.
“I love you Rok,” He said softly as he yawned mid sentence.
Brian opened his eyes and stared down at his half asleep friend. Leaning forward he gently brushed his lips over Nick’s. “I love you too.”
Nick leaned forward, needing more of the physical contact that Brian offered. Their lips met once again, a little more needy this time.
With his hand tangling in his best friend’s hair, Nick pulled him closer to his body. He shivered at the contact.
Brian moaned softly and soon pulled back from the intense kiss. “Nick…” He whispered softly knowing his girlfriend Leighanne would be home soon.
“Bri…I need you,” Nick said desperately staring deeply into his best friend’s blue eyes.
Letting out a sigh, Brian’s eyes closed and he felt Nick’s lips on his again. That’s when Brian’s body melted against Nick’s, and the rest of the night was history.
